Two strong contenders from the Western Conference will settle the question of who will claim the 4th spot in the West after this game.

Can the Mavericks, missing their key players, stand up to three-time MVP Jokic and the Nuggets, who are in ever-improving form? I'm predicting the Mavs will struggle and Denver will take the win.

The Mavericks have achieved an impressive turnaround, notching back-to-back wins over the Blazers and Lakers despite being without Doncic and Irving, putting an end to a tough five-game losing streak.

Doncic likely won’t return until the end of the month, while Irving is listed as day-to-day but may miss a few more games. Dante Exum is also out with a wrist injury.

With a 22-15 record, the Mavericks remain strong contenders for a top-six spot in the standings, keeping them on track for a direct playoff berth.

The Nuggets are back on track, winning six of their last eight games and slowly but surely climbing toward the top of the Western Conference after a rough start to the season.

In early November, the team looked like it had lost its edge, but Nikola Jokic has once again stepped up, delivering incredible performances and sparking life into his teammates. He’s having another MVP-worthy season, averaging an astonishing 31.6 points, 13 rebounds, and nearly 10 assists per game.

These aren’t just triple-double numbers — they’re the best of his career. His connection with Russell Westbrook has been improving as well, highlighted by Westbrook’s 25 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists in the 125-104 win over the Nets.

Even so, the Nuggets aren’t without challenges. Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon are still questionable for this game, leaving the team to adapt yet again.

It has been over a year since the last matchup between these two teams, which saw an intense battle at the Pepsi Center and ended with a 123-120 victory for the Mavericks.

With Doncic out and Kyrie Irving also expected to miss the game, the Mavericks are facing tough challenges. While the team has solid structure and leadership, it’s uncertain whether they can pull off a third straight win against a strong opponent under these circumstances.

For the Nuggets, a win would see them leapfrog into the 4th spot, overtaking their rivals. With that motivation, Jokic and his teammates will likely give it their all, making it highly probable that the visitors will take this one.
