Fenerbahce vs Real Madrid Preview

Istanbul will be the battleground for one of the standout duels of EuroLeague Round 26.

Can the Royal Club escape a second straight defeat in Turkey, or will Fenerbahce rise stronger after their painful setback in Athens?

The home side holds a slight edge, but a thrilling showdown awaits.

Fenerbahce Tips & Live Stream

After 12 straight wins in all competitions, Fenerbahce fell in Athens, losing 91-90 to the reigning champions.

It was a game marked by a fierce battle, highlight plays, plenty of points, and constant lead changes, but in the end, Fenerbahce had only themselves to blame for the collapse.

The night’s unfortunate hero was Nigel Hayes-Davis. First, he rushed a potential game-winner and missed, then, just a second before the buzzer, he carelessly fouled Panathinaikos’ Kendrick Nunn, handing him the chance to seal the victory from the free-throw line. Nunn didn’t miss, securing a crucial win for the Greens.

Errick McCollum also had his best game since joining Fenerbahce, finishing with 18 points.

With this loss, Fenerbahce missed a big opportunity to put extra pressure on Olympiacos in the race for the top spot.

Real Madrid Tips & Live Stream

Real Madrid’s struggles continue after a disappointing loss to Anadolu Efes, leaving them in an unusual position for a club of their stature.

With a 13-12 record, they sit just 9th in the standings – a far cry from their usual dominance. While missing the playoffs still seems unlikely, simply making the postseason is never the goal for the multiple-time EuroLeague champions. They aim for the title, but right now, that feels out of reach.

Their performance against Anadolu Efes was uninspiring, even against a weakened opponent missing Shane Larkin. Few players lived up to expectations, and to make matters worse, Mario Hezonja has been suspended for one game due to his outburst against Monaco, meaning he will likely miss their second game in Istanbul.

On a more positive note, Dennis Smith Jr. made his EuroLeague debut, logging six minutes and scoring once from the field.

Head to Head

Both teams have been evenly matched in their previous head-to-head encounters. In their first meeting this season at WiZink Center, Fenerbahce came out on top with an 82-70 victory, led by a spectacular performance from Nigel Hayes-Davis, who dropped 33 points.

Verdict

Real Madrid are struggling at the moment, and it’s hard to see them recovering in less than 48 hours after their defeat to Efes.

Fenerbahce, meanwhile, also tasted a painful loss in Athens, but coach Jasikevicius won’t let his teams fall into emotional despair. With the roar of their passionate fans behind them, I expect them to rise to the challenge and outclass the visitors from Madrid once more.
