Both teams have looked rough since the turn of the year, failing to find any traction in their competitive endeavours in the upper echelons of competitive Counter-Strike. Both were also crushed in the first round of the group stage and enter this match with a point to prove.

That especially holds true for Astralis, who had a decent run in late 2024 but have looked like a shadow of their former selves over the last month. FURIA Esports are in a similar position, granted they've not had as many highs as Astralis.

Astralis have not had the best run at IEM Katowice 2025 so far. While they made it through the Play-In, it was not pretty, and they failed to impress in the first round of Group B when they got crushed by the defending Major champions, Team Spirit (2-0).

It was a very one-sided game. Spirit won with 13-5 on Nuke and 13-4 on Dust 2, proving two things – that they're still a force to be reckoned with and that Astralis are not at the same level. The latter is hardly a surprising find as Astralis have not been great since the start of the year and they were no particularly successful in 2024 either.

FURIA Esports Form

FURIA barely made it through the IEM Katowice 2025 Play-In stage, and they did not look good in the first round of Group B when they lost to Natus Vincere.

NaVi won the match 2-0 with 13-5 on Dust 2 and 13-3 on Mirage, humiliating the Brazilian lineup, who have long before proven that they do not belong in the upper echelons of competitive Counter-Strike.

Now, FURIA will face another team with similar issues, but even for this match, they are billed as underdogs.

Astralis v FURIA Esports

This is a match between two teams who have been struggling to find any success in the upper tier of competitive Counter-Strike, so it comes as no surprise that they're priced fairly closely. However, whiel Astralis have looked anything but good, they should be considered as the better team.

Like FURIA, Astralis are still shaky, but they've shown higher highs, and unlike FURIA, they have a pretty high ceiling. When, if ever, they will reach their full potential remains to be seen, but I've seen enough from FURIA to not trust them.
