G2 Esports vs Movistar KOI Predictions

G2 Esports and Movistar KOI will meet on Sunday, February 2, in the final week of League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) Winter 2025 in what will be a proper test for G2 Esports and their sudden resurgence.

Surprisingly, G2 Esports are billed as favourites, which makes no sense, and it looks like the odds are set mostly on brand value. Admittedly, they have now won two back-to-back games, but that is no indication of any long-term improvement.

If we look at the team's performances throughout the entire season, Movistar KOI are miles ahead of G2 Esports and arguably one of the better team in the LEC. G2 Esports, on the other side have been extremely shaky and even in their recent win against Rogue, they did not show anything inspiring.

  • G2 Esports have not shown enough yet
  • Movistar KOI are one of the best teams in the league
  • G2 Esports should not be priced as favourites

Head to Head

G2 Esports and Movistar KOI have yet to meet this season

G2 Esports Form

G2 Esports have looked very bad this season and have shown absolutely nothing which would make them favourites over Movistar KOI. And yet, the top crypto betting sites have them as sizeable favourites.

We can give G2 Esports the benefit of the doubt and say that they had a slow start and have now figured things out. It would make sense as they are on a two-game winning streak, but looking back at those games, G2 Esports have looked anything but good and are far from their former selves.

G2 Esports Squad & Team News

G2 Esports have not made any roster changes.

  • Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik – top lane
  • Rudy "SkewMond" Semaan – jungle
  • Rasmus "Caps" Winther – mid lane
  • Steven "Hans Sama" Liv – ADC
  • Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis – support

Movistar KOI Form

Movistar KOI got humiliated on Saturday in what was one of the biggest throws of the season. That, however, does not take away from the fact that Movistar have been excellent throughout the first two weeks and are one of the better teams all-round.

Their only small issue is closing games out, which could come into play here, as G2 Esports are tough to close out against. However, this concern is not as massive, mainly due to the current meta, which make snowballing much easier.

Movistar KOI Squad & Team News

No changes for Movistar KOI.

  • Alex "Myrwn" Villarejo – top lane
  • Javier "Elyoya" Prades – jungle
  • Joseph "Jojopyun" Pyun – mid lane
  • David "Supa" Garcia – ADC
  • Álvaro Fernández "Alvaro" del Amo – support

Verdict

There is no reason for G2 Esports to be priced as favourites. They might've won their last two games but have yet to defeat a good team. There is a world where G2 figure things out and win the LEC trophy, but until they show consistently good games, I will continue to doubt them.

Movistar KOI are entering this match as the better team and are a no-brainer pick at even odds.
