G2 Esports vs paiN Gaming Predictions
G2 Esports will take on paiN Gaming on Friday, March 7, in the opening round of ESL Pro League Season 21 Stage 2, in their first meeting of the season.
It will mark G2’s first match in a month, so some ring rust is to be expected, but considering paiN’s recent showings, G2 Esports are rightly priced as favourites.

G2 Esports have not had the most promising start to the season, as they did not make it very far in Intel Extreme Masters Katowice or BLAST Bounty Spring 2025. PaiN Gaming, on the other side, have had some moments but failed to come close to winning a single tournament and performed especially poorly in the first stage of ESL Pro League Season 21.
This is a match between a ring rusty squad and paiN Gaming, who looked very rough over the last week, so really you have to pick your poison. Nevertheless, paiN’s recent displays are more concerning than G2’s long absence.
- PaiN Gaming barely made it to Stage 2
- G2 Esports played their last match at the start of February
- Unless paiN Gaming find momentum, they’ll struggle to walk away with anything
Head to Head
G2 Esports and paiN Gaming have yet to meet this season.
G2 Esports Form
G2 Esports made a major roster change this offseason, parting ways with their long-standing superstar NiKo. Since then, G2 have not done particularly well in their competitive endeavours, granted we’ve only seen them play seven games since the start of 2025.
Over the seven fixtures, GF2 Esports have managed four wins: against B8, BIG, BetBoom Team, and Team Falcons. Their losses came against Eternal Fire, Virtus.pro, and FaZe Clan.
Looking at that record, G2 Esports have only done well against weaker opponents but were unsuccessful when faced with stronger teams. This could be an issue on Friday, as paiN, despite their rough form, are very solid.

PaiN Gaming Form
PaiN Gaming made it to the second stage of ESL Pro League Season 21 with a very unconvincing run through Stage 1, which the Brazilian outfit finished with a 3-2 record.
During Stage 1, paiN Gaming have lost to M80 and FlyQuest, while their victories came against Housebets, Lynn Vision Gaming, and Nemiga Gaming. PaiN have essentially beaten only second-tier teams and did not look very dominant in either.
PaiN Gaming came very close to losing to Lynn Vision Gaming and were just a couple of rounds away from losing to Nemiga before paiN managed to pull a rabbit out of the hat and reverse-swept. Results like that do not inspire much confidence.

No changes for PaiN Gaming.

Verdict
Considering how rough paiN Gaming have looked in Stage 1 of ESL Pro League Season 21, it is more than fair to question their changes to beating G2 Esports, who are – on paper – significantly better than any team paiN have faced during the opening stage of the tournament.
Seeing paiN nearly lose to the likes of Nemiga Gaming and Lynn Vision Gaming is highly worrying. Still, we’ve seen the Brazilians do well against elite teams prior, so a step up in competition might usher a better showing.
I don’t believe we’ll see an upset, but paiN can take a map.

PaiN have also had some time off to figure out where things went wrong and how to approach a game against the rusty G2.
