OpTic Gaming Announce a New Halo Superteam
- OpTic Gaming revealed a revamped Halo esports roster
- Three new players join
- Matthew "FormaL" Piper is the only carryover from 2024
OpTic Gaming 2025 Halo roster
On Thursday, OpTic Gaming revealed a new Halo esports lineup, which features three new players and Matthew "FormaL" Piper. Considered one of the most stacked Halo rosters in the world, OpTic have built a superteam set to make waves in the esports scene.
As confirmed, OpTic Gaming's new Halo Championship Series (HCS) roster will feature Adam "Bound" Gray, Kaci "Lqgend" Sabri, and Jonathan "Renegade" Willette, who will link up with FormaL as the only remaining member of OpTic's 2024 lineup.
Joining the new "god squad" is coach Daniel "Tusk" Ruiz, who previously led FaZe Clan and spent a short stint as a player on Cloud9 last season.
The announcement of the new roster, namely the inclusion of FormaL comes as a bit of a surprise, as the FPS superstar was rumoured to retire and return to Cal of Duty following a turbulent 2024 Halo esports season.
However, during the offseason, OpTic Gaming only announced the departure of Zane "Pznguin" Hearon, Tommy "Lucid" Wilson, Joey "Trippy" Taylor, and coach Jason "Lunchbox" Brown, indicating that FormaL would stick around for a while longer.
A month after wiping their Halo roster, the Halo World Championship 2024 champions, Spacestation, revealed the departure of their star players, Bound and Lqgend, starting rumours of the duo's arrival to OpTic.
This, however, did not answer the question of who will fill in the fourth spot on OpTic's new roster; until Thursday, when OpTic announced ex-FaZe Clan player Renegade as the final missing piece.
Comprising of the most accomplished FPS player in history, two reigning Halo world champions, and two-time Halo world champion, Renegade, OpTic Gaming have built what many consider the most stacked Halo roster.
The expectations on this roster are huge as they enter the 2025 season, with anything less than a world championship trophy will be considered a disappointment.
These ambitions, however, come as no surprise when we talk about OpTic Gaming, who opted for a massive roster rebuild despite a fairly successful run through the 2024 HCS season.
Last year, OpTic Gaming consistently made HCS Split finals. However, with just one trophy (HCS 2024 Split 1 NA Open Series 6) and eight runner-up finishes – including at Halo World Championship 2024 – OpTic naturally were not satisfied with the results.
