Ruler Returns Home – Signs for Gen.G For The 2025 LoL Esports Season
- Gen.G have announced the return of ADC Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk
- Ruler rejoins his former team after spending two years apart
- Along with Ruler's signing, Gen.G revealed their new LoL roster for the 2025 season

Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk
On Wednesday, November 20, Gen.G unveiled their new League of Legends roster for the 2025 season, which features a familiar face. Besides adding new support, Joo "Duro" Min-kyu, Gen.G also resigned their former ADC Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk.
- An Expected But Strange Return
Ruler, who is undeniably one of the greatest League of Legends players in history, has unexpectedly entered free agency this offseason. And while there were many speculations about where he would end up for the 2025 season, he rejoined Gen.G.
The 25-year-old is a history member of Gen.G, who he has played since 2016 and won the LoL World Championship in 2017.
However, despite all the success Ruler has accomplished under the Gen.G banner, he left the team in November 2022 to try out his skills in China's LoL Pro League (LPL), where he joined heavyweights JD Gaming.
During his two-year-long stint in China, Ruler has proven he can perform in a different league, leading JD Gaming to two LPL titles and a bronze medal from LoL Worlds 2023.
However, last season was not as successful for Ruler and co. as JD Gaming failed to win a single domestic title and missed out on both the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 and LoL Worlds 2024 by placing third in the LP 2024 Reginal Finals.
Considering JD Gaming's lacklustre run through the 2024 season, it comes as no surprise Ruler wanted to join a new team for the 2025 season, and there is hardly any better stop for the LoL legend than his home team, who he played for over six years.
An Expected But Strange Return
While Ruler stated that the only way he would ever return to LoL Champions Korea (LCK) is if he could resign with Gen.G, this move does spark a few questions, considering he is replacing Kim "Peyz" Su-hwan, who has proven to be an integral part of Gen. G's roster since Ruler's departure.
The 18-year-old, who has only two competitive seasons under his belt, has proven himself as one of the top players in the LCK and internationally – more notably, he set a new kill record at the Mid-Season Invitational 2024 when he scored 28 kills in a single game.
Besides resigning Ruler, Gen.G also opted to bring in a new support, former FearX academy player Duro, who will replace Son "Lehends" Si-woo.
The latter has yet to find a new home, but his next destination should be revealed in the coming days.
