Team Liquid vs CTBC Flying Oyster Predictions

Team Liquid and CTBC Flying Oyster will face off on Thursday, March 13, on the fourth day of the First Stand 2025 group stage, marking their first meeting of the season. Both teams have exceeded expectations in this tournament, but only one will secure a playoff invite this Thursday.

Team Liquid and CTBC Flying Oyster have both shown good things, but I am far more impressed with Team Liquid. This is a well-coached and disciplined team, who – against TES – showed just how resilient they can be, and that's a very good quality to have.

CTBC Flying Oyster have done well in their recent games too, but they are not particularly explosive in the early game, and as shown over the last three days, that's one way to beat Team Liquid.

I have respect for CTBC Flying Oyster, but they might not have the tools needed to deal with Liquid.

  • Team Liquid are playing surprisingly well
  • CTBC Flying Oyster do not have a good enough early-game
  • It will be competitive, but this is Liquid's game to lose

Head to Head

Team Liquid and CTBC Flying Oyster have yet to meet this season.

Team Liquid Form

Team Liquid played a solid series against Karmine Corp (2-1), but they could not make it past Top Esports in their second match of the tournament. Most of it has to do with Liquid's poor start to the two maps, as they allowed Top Esports to accumulate too much of a lead.

Both games were done before the 15-minute mark, but we did see Team Liquid claw their way back despite playing from a deficit. This is not something to ignore, as Liquid have proven they are very resilient and ready to take risky plays if it means there's a chance to get back into the game.

Despite the loss, Liquid played a very competitive game.

Team Liquid Squad & Team News

Team Liquid have not made any roster changes.

  • Jeong "Impact" Eon-young – top lane
  • Um "UmTi" Sung-hyeon – jungle
  • Eain "APA" Stearns – mid lane
  • Sean "Yeon" Sung – ADC
  • Jo "CoreJJ" Yong-in – support

CTBC Flying Oyster Form

CTBC Flying Oyster had an excellent start to the tournament, beating Karmine Corp 2-0. They had a dominant showing on map one and a more methodical yet no less convincing win on map two. The lack of international experience showed in that game; granted, there was more to CFO's victory.

LCP representatives were not as successful in their second match of First Stand 2025, as they had to admit defeat to Hanwha Life Esports. The game was not close, but you cannot blame CTBC Flying Oyster for losing against one of the world's top team.

This is still a solid and experienced lineup, which should do well against Team Liquid. The question is, however, whether that will be enough for the CFO to emerge victorious.

CTBC Flying Oyster Squad & Team News

No roster changes for CTBC Flying Oyster.

  • Shen "Driver" Tsung-Hua – top lane
  • Hsu "Rest" Shih-Chieh – top lane
  • Yu "JunJia" Chun-Chia – jungle
  • Tsai "HongQ" Ming-Hong – mid lane
  • Chiu "Doggo" Tzu-Chuan – ADC
  • Ling "Kaiwing" Kai Wing – support

Verdict

Team Liquid are priced as 1.75 favourites to defeat CTBC Flying Oyster on Thursday, and that's a fair offer. Even though CTBC Flying Oyster played well recently, I have much more faith in Team Liquid, who are very versatile, resilient, and a very well-coached team.

Even though Liquid might get outclassed individually by some of their teams, they approach their games very well and always find ways to push back. Their weak point is the early game, as shown by Top Esports.

But I wouldn't consider CTBC Flying Oyster to be a good enough early-game team to hit Liquid where it hurts.
