Team Liquid will face off against Eternal Fire on Sunday, March 9, in the third round of ESL Pro League Season 21 Stage 2, marking their first meeting of the season. The two teams have managed a 1-1 record so far and will look to book a spot in Round 4 high matches this weekend.

Team Liquid and Eternal Fire have both had a slow start to the tournament, losing to Team Falcons and 3DMAX, respectively. Both teams have also struggled to accomplish much since the turn of the year, but this applies more to Liquid than Eternal Fire, who placed second in BLAST Bounty Spring 2025.

Eternal Fire have shown higher highs this season, so it is not too surprising to see them priced as favourites. But they've since cooled down, so a closer game is expected.

Team Liquid have not accomplished much so far this season. They exited BLAST Bounty Spring 2025: Closed Qualifier in ninth-16th-place and failed to make it much further at Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025, where they exited in ninth-12th.

Since the turn of the year, Liquid have played 10 games and won four against Complexity, Wildcard, MOUZ, and FURIA, whom Liquid bested in the previous round of ESL Pro League Season 21. On the other side, they've lost to HEROIC (twice), The MongolZ, Team Spirit, and Team Falcons.

This is not the most promising record, and it seems like Liquid are still not performing at the level they could. However, while Liquid have looked a bit rough of late, Eternal Fire have also had some shaky displays recently.

Eternal Fire Form

Eternal Fire had an explosive start to the 2025 Counter-Strike 2 season, as they made the finals of BLAST Bounty Spring 2025. Since then, they have attended Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2025 and PGL Cluj-Napoca 2025, ending the two events in fifth-sixth and fifth-eighth-place, respectively.

The Turkish squad have played 23 games since the turn of the year, and they won 16, which is quite inspiring. However, most of the recent wins came against weaker opponents – Mindfreak, NRG, FlyQuest, and MIBR.

The three losses over that stretch came against TYLOO, 3DMAX, and Team Falcons.

Despite their early success, Eternal Fire have not looked too good since the start of ESL Pro League Season 21, as they did not make it past TYLOO and 3DMAX. And if they struggled against teams of that calibre, it is fair to expect them to have a hard time beating Liquid.

Team Liquid v Eternal Fire

Eternal Fire are billed as favourites for this match, which makes sense for a couple of reasons. They've played 2x as many games as Liquid this season and have reached higher highs, namely with their grand final appearance at BLAST Bounty Spring 2025.

Team Liquid has looked a bit rough around the edges since the start of the year, but this is still a talented team that can pose a threat. That, combined with the fact that EF have recently slipped against weaker opponents, suggests that this should be a close game.
