However, with the recent roster changes, Ultra are a bit of an enigma and a team that might compete for top spots or collapse and remain in the middle of the table. The uncertainty makes backing them as betting favourites a far less appealing option.

Vancouver Surge made some changes from last season, the most notable being the departure of Cuyler "Huke" Garland, which is a questionable move. Still, the Surge field a good roster, which underperformed a bit last season when it seemed they never reached their full potential.
They were great on Control and Search & Destroy but lacked the clutch factor, losing way too many game fives to accomplish anything noteworthy. With Byron "Nastie" Plumridge joining the team, the Surge will continue to be a team no one should underestimate, but it remains to be seen whether they'll find more consistency in clutch matches.

Toronto Ultra Form
Toronto Ultra made several roster changes ahead of the 2025 season, with Tobias "CleanX" Jønsson and Jamie "Insight" Craven as the only carryovers. The massive roster swap does not make much sense, as Ultra were easily one of the top teams of the 2024 CDL season.
While Beans and JoeDecieves are both great players, Ultra's ceiling has dropped a bit.
While Ultra placed second at the Esports World Cup 2024 in August, that was still with their 2024 lineup, so it will be interesting to see how high they can fly with two new members.

Toronto Ultra look much better on paper than Vancouver Surge, but with two recent roster changes, they are still a bit of an enigma in my book. It is hard to make a strong opinion on this team and where they will end up – and it's possible Ultra will either compete for top spots or completely fall apart.
With so many questions surrounding Toronto Ultra, it is hard to take their side of this contest at the offered betting odds. Vancouver Surge have the talent to do well.
