Arsenal vs Manchester United
Arsenal are aiming to bounce back from their recent struggles as they host Manchester United in the English FA Cup third round.
The Red Devils appear to always raise their game against the top sides and can make things difficult for the Gunners, who have not been at their best lately. It should be a closely fought contest on Sunday with both teams likely to come to life after the break.
Arsenal Form
Arsenal appear to be going through a difficult patch at the moment as they come into this one winless in their last two matches. First they were pegged back and held to a 1-1 draw at Brighton before suffering a 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup semi-final first leg.
Although Arsenal are still in the Premier League title race, they will be keen to get their hands on the FA Cup once again having last lifted the trophy in 2020. The good news for Mikel Arteta’s team ahead of this one is that they have lost only once at the Emirates across all competitions this season.
Arsenal have lost some of their defensive solidity lately, failing to keep a clean sheet in five of their last six matches across all competitions. The Gunners tend to get lively after the break and have scored seven second half goals in their last six matches.
Manchester United Form
Manchester United are still attempting to find their feet under Ruben Amorim and are winless in their last five matches across all competitions. They travel to the Emirates off the back of a 2-2 draw with Liverpool in a Premier League fixture last Sunday.
The Red Devils will take plenty of confidence from the performance at Anfield as they were brave and could have won it in the end. They seem to always turn up against the big teams, with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City among their recent results.
Manchester United have scored nine goals in their last five away matches while also conceding 10 times in that run. They have been level at the break in their last two away matches and have scored 10 second half goals in the last five fixtures on the road.
Head to Head
It is often close between both teams, with Arsenal claiming four wins while Manchester United have been victorious three times in the last seven matches. The Gunners won 2-0 at home when both teams met in the Premier League back in December.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been level at the break in three of their last four meetings.
Verdict
Arsenal look a bit out of sorts at the moment while Manchester United will be feeling confident, especially after that win at Anfield. Both teams have looked shaky at the back lately and should produce goals here, most of which should come in the second half.
Manchester United have stood firm against some of the big teams lately and can hold out for a halftime draw on Sunday.
