Cagliari vs Lazio Tips & Preview - Visitors to bounce back
- Lazio seeking to overcome recent form slump in Serie A.
- Cagliari looking to distance themselves from relegation zone.
- Lazio holds strong away record and positive head to head history against Cagliari.

Cagliari vs Lazio
Lazio are aiming to snap out of a recent slump and travel to Cagliari for an Italian Serie A clash on Monday night.
The capital club have dipped slightly in the last few weeks while the hosts are attempting to move away from the relegation zone. The visitors have a decent record on their travels and should have the edge in this one.
Cagliari Form
Sitting one point above the bottom three, the priority for Cagliari will be to ease away from the danger zone. They have shown signs of improvement lately and are unbeaten in three of their last four matches, but will head into Monday’s clash off the back of a 2-0 defeat at Torino in their previous Serie A fixture.
Although Cagliari appear to be picking things up lately, a wider look at their recent form reveals just two wins from their last nine matches across all competitions. The defeat to Torino means Davide Nicola’s team have now been beaten six times in that run.
Things are slightly better at home for Cagliari who earned a 4- 1 victory over Lecce in their previous fixture at home. However, they tend to struggle against the big sides with a 4-0 defeat to Napoli and a 3-0 hammering against Inter Milan among their results in front of their fans this season.
Lazio Form
Lazio appear to have slipped into a slump in the last few weeks, with just one win from their last five Serie A matches. They were beaten 2-1 at home by Fiorentina in their previous Serie A fixture and then lost 1-0 to Braga in the Europa League, although it was a much changed team having already progressed to the round of 16.
The only Serie A win for Lazio in that run was a 3-0 thrashing of Verona, which is part of a string of solid results on the road. Marco Baroni’s team have won five of their last seven Serie A away matches and can count a 1-0 victory over leaders Napoli among their victories in that run.
Lazio's solid recent away record has seen them score first in three of their last four Serie A fixtures on the road. Valentin Castellanos is also having a good season with the capital club and will look to add to his seven Serie A goals so far.
Head to Head
Lazio have a superior record against Cagliari and have picked up 10 wins and one draw from the last 11 matches. The visitors earned a 2-1 home win in the reverse fixture back in September and also won 3-1 in the last away meeting.
Verdict
Lazio may be looking off colour lately but their record on the road remains solid having also won at Serie A leaders Napoli. They also have a dominant record against Cagliari and should pick up the win on Monday.
The capital club often score first on their travels and could be set to continue that trend having also grabbed the opening goal in the last seven matches against Cagliari. Castellanos can also be backed to find the net in this one.
