Liverpool can go 16 points clear at the top of the table when they host bottom club Southampton in an English Premier League fixture on Saturday.
The Reds are looking unstoppable lately while the visitors appear doomed to return to the Championship this season. A dominant home win is expected against the Saints, who are out of their depth and are poor on the road.

Liverpool are inching ever closer to the Premier League title and are now 13 points clear at the top of the table after a 2-0 victory over Newcastle United. They followed that up with a 1-0 victory over PSG in the Champions round of 16 first leg on Wednesday.
The Reds are unbeaten in five of their last six matches across all competitions, picking up four wins in that run. Arne Slot’s men have shown their defensive side lately, keeping clean sheets in their last three matches, with some heroics from goalkeeper Alisson Becker in the victory in Paris.
After the defensive display in midweek, Liverpool will be keen to show a bit more attacking quality against Southampton and have scored in both halves in their last six home matches. The Premier League leaders have earned some dominant results, winning both halves four times in that run.
Southampton Form
Southampton have spent much of the season rooted to the foot of the table and are looking increasingly likely to be relegated this season. Ivan Juric's menare slowly being cut adrift from the rest of the league and are now 13 points from safety.
There has been no new manager bounce since Juric arrived and things appear to be getting worse for Southampton lately. They have lost nine of their last 10 Premier League matches and were beaten 4-0 at Chelsea in their previous fixture.
Southampton have lacked the cutting edge in attack all season and are without a goal in three of their last four matches across all competitions. Their porous defence also means they have suffered some one-sided defeats this season like the 5-0 hammering against Brentford and the 4-0 loss to Brighton.

Liverpool have a dominant record against Southampton and are unbeaten in the last eight meetings, claiming seven wins in that run. The Reds claimed a 2-1 away victory in the reverse fixture back in December and also ran out 3-0 winners in their last home meeting last February.
Verdict
Saturday’s clash is likely to be a mismatch with Liverpool looking to go 16 points clear at the top while Southampton are struggling at the foot of the table. With the Saints losing 4-0 in each of their last two matches, the Reds should claim a dominant victory here.
