Nice continue their push to finish in the Champions League spots when they host Auxerre in a Friday night French Ligue 1 fixture.
The hosts have been in good form lately and are particularly impressive at the Allianz Riviera. They should have too much for the visitors, who are out of sorts at the moment.

The first task for Nice will be to bounce back from the disappointing 2-0 home defeat to Lyon in their previous Ligue 1 fixture. They held their own for much of the contest but were uncharacteristically wasteful in attack, failing to convert any of their 18 attempts on goal.

Auxerre were victorious last time out in Ligue 1 as they claimed a 2-0 win at Reims thanks to efforts from Thelonius Bair and Hamed Traore. That result maintains their push for a place in the top half as they are now three points off 10th placed Toulouse.
That was the second win in three matches for Auxerre, who are looking to build some momentum in the coming weeks. However, a closer look at their overall form reveals that they have only won two of their last 14 matches across all competitions.
Auxerre have also found things difficult on their travels this season and are winless in 10 of their 12 Ligue 1 away matches so far. Christophe Pelissier’s men have been beaten eight times in that run, with some heavy defeats among their results like the 4-2 loss at Monaco and the 3-1 thrashing at Strasbourg.

Both teams have two wins each and as many draws from their last six meetings, with Auxerre claiming a 2-1 home victory in the reverse fixture back in August. However, Nice are unbeaten in the last four home meetings, picking up three wins in that run.
Verdict
Both teams may have had contrasting results last weekend but Nice have been the better side all season, a fact highlighted by their positions in the table. With Auxerre winless in 10 of their 12 away matches this season, a home win is expected here.
