RB Leipzig vs Eintracht Frankfurt
RB Leipzig will look to use the DFB Pokal as a springboard when they host Eintracht Frankfurt in a round of 16 clash on Wednesday.
Leipzig’s form has been poor of late and face a difficult tie against an impressive Frankfurt. Both teams have plenty of attacking quality and could be set to serve up goals in this one.
RB Leipzig Form
RB Leipzig will view the DFB Pokal as an opportunity to find some form, with their Bundesliga campaign faltering at the moment. They have scored four goals in each of their two matches in the competition, beating Rot-Weiss Essen 4-1 before a 4-2 victory over St Pauli in the previous round.
Since that victory over St Pauli, it has been mostly downhill for RB Leipzig, who are winless in their last six matches across all competitions. Marco Rose’s men were beaten 5-1 by Wolfsburg at home in the Bundesliga last weekend.
Leipzig will be keen to recapture some of the spark from the early rounds of the competition. With Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko, they certainly have the attacking quality to score multiple goals.
Eintracht Frankfurt Form
Eintracht Frankfurt were also comfortable in their opening two fixtures in the DFB Pokal. They eased past Eintracht Braunschweig 4-1 before claiming a 2-1 victory over Borussia Monchengladbach in their previous fixture.
However, unlike Leipzig, their recent form has been top-notch as they are unbeaten in their last nine matches. They have picked up four wins in that run, including a 4-0 victory at Heidenheim at the weekend.
The win over Heidenheim highlights Frankfurt’s attacking quality and they have scored first in their last 10 matches across all competitions. Dino Toppmoller’s team also have a habit of finding their rhythm after the break with four of their last five matches producing more second half goals.

There has been nothing to separate RB Leipzig in recent matches with two wins each and five draws from the last nine fixtures. Both teams battled to a 2-2 draw in the last meeting back in May.

There were over 3.5 goals in the last meeting between RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt. Both teams have quality going forward and can serve up another high-scoring contest.
