Real Sociedad vs Osasuna Tips & Preview - Visitors to stand firm against La Real
- Real Sociedad aiming to use the Copa del Rey to improve recent poor form.
- Osasuna is in good form, unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 matches.
- Both teams have attacking strengths but struggle defensively, expecting over 2.5 goals.

Real Sociedad vs Osasuna
Real Sociedad will look to put aside their recent struggles as they host Osasuna in the Copa del Rey quarter-final on Thursday.
The hosts have been a bit out of sorts lately and will hope to use the cup competition as a spark to revive their campaign. Meanwhile, the visitors are playing well at the moment and having gotten the better of the home side in recent meetings, will be confident of avoiding defeat.
Real Sociedad Form
Real Sociedad secured a place in the quarter-finals of the Copa Del Rey after claiming a 3-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano in the previous round. However, it has been all downhill since then for Imanol Alguacil’s team, who have lost four of their last five matches across all competitions, including a 2-1 La Liga defeat to Osasuna last weekend.
It is not all bad news for Real Sociedad as they are unbeaten in eight of their last nine home matches across all competitions. La Real have picked up seven wins in that run but were beaten 3-0 by Getafe in their previous La Liga fixture in front of their fans.
Real Sociedad have good quality going forward and have scored in seven of their last nine home matches across all competitions. However, they are unconvincing at the back and are without a clean sheet in their last six matches, with four of those fixtures producing over 2.5 goals.
Osasuna Form
Osasuna are playing better than their hosts at the moment and head into Thursday’s clash unbeaten in 10 of their last 12 matches across all competitions. They warmed up for Wednesday’s clash with a 2-1 home victory over Real Sociedad, with Ante Budimir getting a brace.
Things have also been smooth on the road for Osasuna, who are unbeaten in six of their last seven away matches across all competitions, with three wins and as many draws in that run. One of those wins was a 3-2 victory at holders Athletic Bilbao in the previous round of the Copa del Rey.
Osasuna have quality going forward but are often shaky at the back and have scored and conceded in six of their last seven matches across all competitions. Four of those fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.
Head to Head
Osasuna have the upper hand in recent matches against Real Sociedad and are unbeaten in six of the last seven fixtures. The visitors claimed a 2-1 home win in their La Liga meeting at the weekend and have also won the last three away fixtures.
Verdict
While Real Sociedad are struggling, Osasuna have been in good form lately, although they seem to draw as much as they win. One thing that is obvious is that the visitors seem to always get the better of their hosts in recent meetings and can avoid defeat on Thursday.
Neither defence is solid enough and with the attacks showing some quality, both teams can be backed to score while an outcome of over 2.5 goals is also expected.
