Valencia vs Barcelona Tips & Preview - Catalans to show superior quality
- Barcelona in excellent form, face Valencia in Copa del Rey quarter-final.
- Valencia recently won against Celta Vigo but lost heavily to Barcelona in La Liga.
- Barcelona unbeaten in last nine matches, with Lewandowski key to their recent success.

Valencia vs Barcelona
Barcelona will look to maintain their impressive performances in the Cup competitions as they travel to Valencia for a Copa del Rey quarter-final clash.
The hosts are trying to salvage their season but tend to struggle against the Catalans, who come into this one in good form. The visitors won their La Liga meeting comfortably and should have the upper hand once again.
Valencia Form
Valencia are getting set to face their first topflight opponents in the Copa del Rey having come through only lower league sides to reach the quarter-finals. They claimed a 2-0 victory at third tier side Ourense in the previous round to book a place in Thursday’s clash.
Los Che are showing signs of improvement in their battle against relegation and are unbeaten in five of their last six matches across all competitions. They beat Celta Vigo 2-1 in their last Liga fixture over the weekend but were hammered 7-1 by Barcelona in the previous meeting.
The seven goals conceded at Barcelona highlights a vulnerable defence, although they do try to balance things out at the other end of the pitch. Carlos Corberan's men have scored in each of their last nine matches across all competitions while five of their last seven home fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.
Barcelona Form
Barcelona may be playing catch-up to the Madrid clubs in La Liga but have shown their quality in the cup competitions this season. Hansi Flick’s team have already won the Super Cup and are making steady progress in the Copa del Rey, beating Real Betis 5-1 in the previous round to reach the quarter-finals.
There have been a few results like that for Barcelona lately as they are unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, claiming seven wins in that run. Robert Lewandowski has been pivotal in that run, scoring seven times, including the winner in the 1-0 La Liga victory over Alaves last Sunday.
For all of Barcelona's attacking quality, their highline often leaves them exposed at the back and they are without a clean sheet in six of their last seven matches across all competitions. Five of the matches in that run have produced over 2.5 goals.
Head to Head
Barcelona are unbeaten in the last nine matches against Valencia and have picked up eight wins in that run. The Catalans eased to a 7-1 home victory in their La Liga fixture in January and also earned a 2-1 away win on their last trip to the Mestalla.
Verdict
Barcelona have dominated this fixture, although it is not as one-sided when they play away from home. The visitors should see out the win here but having conceded in the last four meetings with Valencia, a clean sheet is unlikely.
Lewandowski's record against Valencia is impressive, with six goals in the last three meetings. The Polish striker should get on the score sheet once again on Thursday.
