Al Ittihad are inching ever closer to the Saudi Pro League title and travel to already relegated Al Raed on Thursday.

The hosts are only playing for pride at the moment and are struggling to find any kind of rhythm even at home. The visitors are looking impressive at the moment and should have too much quality for the home side.

Al Raed Form

Al Raed’s sojourn in the topflight is over as they have been relegated to the second tier. A defeat on Thursday means Kresimir Rezic's team will also finish bottom of the table as they sit seven points off 17th-placed Al Okhdood, with three matches left to play.

Relegation had been inevitable for Al Raed, who spent much of the season at the foot of the table and have lost eight of their last 10 league matches, including a 1-0 defeat to Damac last time out. They are also winless in their last 10 Saudi Pro League home matches, suffering nine defeats in that run.

One area that has been decent for Al Raed is their attack having scored in eight of their last 10 league matches, with six of their last 11 goals coming after the break. However, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in all 10 fixtures, with seven of them producing over 2.5 goals.

Al Ittihad Form

The Saudi Pro League title is within reach for Al Ittihad, who are currently six points clear at the top of the table with three matches left to play. They are showing no signs of slowing down or slipping up and are unbeaten in 13 of their last 14 league matches.

Al Ittihad appear to have taken things up a notch in the last few weeks, winning four of their last five matches, including a 3-0 home victory over Al Fahya in their previous fixture. Lauren Blanc’s team also claimed a 3-2 victory at Al Nassr in their previous outing on the road.

The win at Al Nassr highlights a familiar pattern for Al Ittihad, who have scored and conceded in eight of their last nine away matches. Five of their last six goals have been scored after the break while their last three fixtures have produced over 2.5 goals.

Head to Head

Al Ittihad often come out on top in this fixture and are unbeaten in six of the last seven meetings, claiming five wins in that run. The visitors ran out 4-1 home winners in the reverse fixture and have also won the last three away matches against Al Raed.

Verdict

Al Ittihad are in good form at the moment and face an Al Raed side that have lost nine of their last 10 home matches in the league. Having claimed a win and over 2.5 goals in their last three matches, the hosts should produce a similar outcome on Thursday.

Neither defence has looked solid lately and with both teams scoring in their last two meetings, a repeat is expected here. The last three meetings have also produced more goals after the break and that trend should continue here.
