Inter Milan welcome Barcelona to San Siro for their UEFA Champions League semi-final second leg, with the tie perfectly balanced following a thrilling 3-3 draw in the first meeting.

The hosts appear to be slowly getting back their rhythm after a slump and will be fired up for this clash. They often do their best work at home and buoyed by a vocal home support should qualify at the expense of the Spaniards, who have looked vulnerable in their recent Champions League fixtures.

Inter Milan showed their quality in the first leg as goals from Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries earned them the 3-3 draw. They followed up that result with a 1-0 home victory over Verona in an Italian Serie A fixture on Saturday.

Home form has been at the heart of Inter Milan's overall campaign this season and they are unbeaten at San Siro in the Champions League. Simone Inzaghi’s men have picked up six straight wins before holding out for a 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the quarter-final second leg.

One concerning thing is that Inter Milan appear to have lost their defensive solidity from earlier in the season having conceded in their last four Champions League matches. However, their attack more than makes up for this and they have scored first in six of their last seven matches in the competition.

Barcelona Form

Barcelona are still on course for a treble as they sit top of the Spanish La Liga table and are looking to make the Champions League final having already won the Copa del Rey. They will take the positives from the performance in the first leg having fought back from two goals down to earn that draw.

While the fighting spirit should be applauded, the result means Barcelona have now lost their last two Champions League matches. Hansi Flick’s men were beaten 3-1 at Borussia Dortmund in the quarter-final second leg after also going two goals down.

Despite these setbacks, Barcelona will head into this clash unbeaten in their last five matches across all competitions, coming from behind to claim a 2-1 La Liga victory at Real Valladolid on Saturday. They will also be boosted by the return of top scorer Robert Lewandowski, who missed the first leg through injury.

Barcelona have six wins while Inter Milan have been victorious twice from 13 previous matches while the other five meetings have ended in draws, including the 3-3 first leg scoreline. Prior to this season, the last time both teams met in the semi-final of the Champions League was in 2010, with the Italians earning a 3-2 aggregate victory on their way to lifting the trophy.

Inter Milan will come into Tuesday’s match counting on an unbeaten home record in the Champions League and a vocal home support. Barcelona remain a formidable side but look vulnerable. The Italians should do enough to avoid defeat and secure a berth in the final.

Inter have opened the scoring in six of their last seven Champions League matches and with Barcelona going behind in their last two, a repeat is on the cards here.
