Fresh from their European disappointment, Arsenal return to English Premier League action with a trip to champions Liverpool.
The Gunners are now in a battle for the top five after seeing the chasing pack close the gap. They will be keen for a reaction after their UEFA Champions League exit and with the hosts feeling relaxed in their victory lap, an open contest could be on the cards.

Liverpool suffered a 3-1 defeat at Chelsea in their first Premier League fixture since being crowned champions. They appeared to still be in celebratory mood and were second best throughout the encounter, with Virgil Van Dijk’s second half effort proving a mere consolation.

Arsenal Form
Arsenal come into this clash off the back of the disappointment of their exit in the Champions League semi-final. They suffered a 2-1 second leg away defeat on Wednesday to fall 3-1 on aggregate.
The Gunners must rouse themselves with their domestic form suffering as the 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth last time out means third-placed Manchester City are now three points off the pace. The good news is that Mikel Arteta’s team are decent on the road having gone unbeaten in their last 12 away matches in the league.
Arsenal remain solid going forward and have scored six of the nine goals in their last five away matches across all competitions after the break. However, they are unconvincing in defence and are without a clean sheet in six of their last seven matches, with five of those fixtures producing over 2.5 goals.

It is usually closely fought between Liverpool and Arsenal and both teams have earned two wins each and there draws from the last seven matches. The reverse fixture back in October ended in a 2-2 draw.
Verdict
Both teams will come into this clash fired up, with Liverpool keen to bounce back after the last performance and Arsenal desperate to get back on track following their European exit. With both teams scoring and seeing over 2.5 goals in the reverse fixture, a repeat is on the cards here.
