Liverpool continue their march towards the English Premier League title as they welcome West Ham to Anfield on Sunday.

The hosts have stumbled slightly in the last few weeks but remain on course to secure their 20th league title. The Reds will be keen to give the home fans something to cheer and should be too strong for the Hammers, who are still struggling to find their best form.

Liverpool Form

Liverpool are coming off a disappointing 3-2 defeat at Fulham in their previous Premier League fixture. That was the third defeat in four matches across all competitions, a run that saw them crash out of the UEFA Champions League and suffer defeat to Newcastle in the EFL Cup final.

The good news for Liverpool is that they remain 11 points clear at the top of the table. Despite their recent struggles, they need only four wins from the final seven fixtures to win the title. The Reds have won their last four matches at Anfield and come into this clash with some good news as star forward Mohamed Salah has signed a two-year extension.

Liverpool have won by a two-goal margin in three of their last five home matches and have scored five of their last six goals at Anfield after the break. The habit of often finding their feet after the break has seen Arne Slots’s team win the second half in their last three Premier League home matches.

West Ham Form

Since replacing Julen Lopetegui in January, manager Graham Potter has struggled to get West Ham playing at their best. They are still in the bottom half of the table having failed to build any kind of momentum or consistency.

Sitting 15 points above the bottom three, the positive for West Ham is that they are relatively safe from relegation. The Hammers will travel to Anfield winless in eight of their last 10 Premier League matches, playing out a 2-2 home draw with Bournemouth in their previous fixture.

Things are just as tough on the road for West Ham, who are winless five of their last six away matches in the league. Among their results in that run is a 4-1 defeat at Manchester City while they were also beaten 1-0 by Wolverhampton Wanderers in their previous fixture on the road.

Head to Head

Liverpool have dominated this fixture in recent years, winning seven of the last eight matches against West Ham. The Reds have beaten the visitors twice this season, claiming a 5-1 home victory in the EFL Cup back in September before a 5-0 away win in the reverse fixture.

Verdict

Liverpool have been below their best lately but are still going to win the Premier League and will be keen to finish the season with a flourish. They have dominated West Ham in recent meetings and given the one-sided results in the two matches this season, a comfortable home win is expected here.

The Reds tend to find their rhythm after the break and should continue their run of scoring more second half goals. That trend could also see them win the second half as they have done in their last three home matches.
