Croatia vs Spain Preview & Tips

Croatia have been nowhere near good enough in the UEFA Nations League after losing their last two matches at the competition.

Spain continue to prove their quality at the top level with a trio of UEFA Nations League wins following their World Cup triumph.

Spain have won seven of their last 10 against Croatia, with the latter winning twice and one game ending as a draw.

Croatia started their Nations League campaign well as they beat Czechia in a battling 2-1 win away from home.

However, their 4-1 loss to Spain has since been followed by a humiliating 7-0 loss to England on their own patch. In their match against the English, Croatia struggled to deal with England's high press, while they failed to ever really create pressure or chances in a match in which they were outplayed.

Now, attention switches to hosting the best side in the world. On the back of a massive 7-0 loss, Croatia will look to prioritise defensive solidity to ensure they are not embarrassed again. However, if they are likely to show even less attacking intent than they did against England, then they will not get anywhere near breaching Spain's defence.

Spain continue to impress, with their exploits at the 2026 World Cup not causing any kind of a hangover as their next three competitive matches have all ended in wins.

Their 3-2 triumph over England came in a pulsating game in which the two sides traded blows. Against Croatia at home, Spain were in cruise control as they notched a 4-1 win before they beat Czechia 3-1 at home.

A clash against Croatia away from home will be an interesting one as the Spanish look to emulate what England managed in their 7-0 win at the weekend. Lamine Yamal will look to give Spain a fast start, and I back him to do just that. The Barcelona forward has scored the first goal in each of Spain's last three, and I back him to extend this run as Spain win again.
