Borussia Dortmund vs Werder Bremen

Borussia Dortmund are looking to extend their perfect start to the 2026/27 Bundesliga season after winning their opening four matches. With 12 points in the bank, Dortmund are two clear of reigning champions Bayern Munich in second. If Dortmund are to seriously challenge Bayern for the title then they have to try to extend their winning run for as long as possible. Against Werder Bremen, Dortmund did the double last season with a 3-0 home win before they won 2-0 on the road. They are also unbeaten in their last seven, winning five times and drawing twice. With four of their five wins over Bremen coming to nil, I am backing Dortmund to keep a clean sheet.

Werder Bremen have impressed at the start of the new season after slipping to a single defeat across their opening four. A 4-1 loss to Freiburg in their opener was followed by an impressive 3-1 win over RB Leipzig. They then took a point from FC Koln before beating Augsburg 3-2. On the road, Bremen are yet to win after losing to Freiburg and drawing with Koln. While they will be tough to beat, I predict that they will fail to breach a Dortmund defence that has kept a clean sheet in three of their four this term.

Lens vs Lyon

Lens have struggled across the start of the new season after winning just one of their opening five. A 5-2 hammering of Auxerre in their opener has been followed by three defeats and a single draw with Le Mans. After taking four points from a possible 15, Lens are spared the relegation zone by their superior goal difference to Troyes. Positively, Lens hammered Lyon 4-0 in their last meeting, but their current form suggests that this match will not emulate this victory. Lyon have not been piling on the goals in their away games while Lens have seen less than 3.5 goals scored in three of their last four. With this in mind, I predict the home side will lose for the fourth time in six games in a low-scoring encounter.

Lyon have been very impressive at the start of the new season after avoiding defeat and moving up to second in the standings. Wins over Toulouse, Auxerre and Rennes have come alongside draws with Le Havre and Paris FC. With Monaco just two points ahead of them at the summit, a win in their sixth game could see them move to the top, while it would also allow Lyon to end a two-game winless run against Lens. I am backing Lyon to take the points from this one in a match that continues the trend of the travelling side seeing less than 3.5 goals when on the road.
