Manchester United vs Tottenham Preview & Tips

Manchester United are aiming to end a three-game winless run in the league after drawing with Everton and Fulham and losing to Manchester City.

Tottenham have been awful this season, with their two points from five games seeing them prop up the Premier League table.

United have won two of their last 10 against Tottenham, with Spurs winning five times and three games ending as draws.

Manchester United have not been good enough at the start of the new season after winning one of their opening five, with this sole victory coming alongside two draws and two defeats.

With five points in the bank, United are already 10 short of Manchester City at the summit, while they are only three clear of their next opponents at the foot of the table. However. It is worth noting that their 1-0 loss to Manchester City came in controversial circumstances, with what should have been a draw meaning they should actually be unbeaten across their last four in the league with three draws and a win.

Positive for United is the fact they beat Spurs 2-0 when they last hosted their opponents. They also know that the visiting side are in atrocious form having failed to win any of their opening five.

With their need for a win against statistically the worst side in the league massive, I am backing United to secure a crucial victory as the pair share in a game in which less than 3.5 goals are scored for the third time in their last four meetings.

Tottenham Form

Tottenham have been atrocious at the start of the new season and are already stuck in a relegation battle after slumping to the foot of the table.

Five games, no wins, two draws and three defeats have come alongside eight goals conceded and just two scored. Both goals came in their last game, with their 3-2 loss to Aston Villa another damning result. While it did end their four-game scoreless run in the league, it did not result in the win they saw dearly need.

While Spurs know United are hardly in great form, it is very difficult to see where the goals will come from. Perhaps the elongated international break will have given the London side a chance to regroup, but after the torrid start they have had, they will need something truly special to hit the ground running.
