Liverpool vs Arsenal Preview & Tips
Liverpool are aiming to have a big say on which side finishes at the top of the table this weekend as they host second-placed Arsenal at Anfield.
Arsenal will want to ensure that their important win over Everton last weekend is not immediately followed by a loss that could see them fall three points behind Manchester City at the top of the standings.
- Liverpool have won their last five in all competitions
Head To Head
In their last 10 meetings, Liverpool have won three times, Arsenal have secured two wins and five matches have ended as draws.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool have been able to bounce back from a frustrating start to the season after their opening four ended in three draws and a single win.
While they did remain unbeaten in this time, they were held by Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Fulham, with all three clubs Liverpool would have fancied themselves against. They have since beaten Bournemouth and lost to Manchester City before downing both Brentford and Brighton.
Across competitions, the Reds have won their last five when factoring in a 6-3 win over LASK and a 4-3 win over Villarreal in the Champions League. Their win over Chelsea in the EFL Cup came on penalties, with the Reds arriving for this one confident.
Arsenal are not a side that Liverpool can afford to give any quarter to. The Gunners have won three of their four on the road in the league, but they were completely outplayed by Brighton in a 3-0 loss back in September. If Liverpool can hit Arsenal with the same sort of intensity in this one, then they have every chance of winning this match.
Arsenal Form
Arsenal arrive for their ninth match of the league season on the back of wins over Leeds, Nottingham Forest and Everton.
Each opponent has the ability to challenge most sides, with this making Arsenal's winning run in the league even more impressive. The one worry will be that they were knocked out of the EFL Cup in midweek in a stunning game against Fleetwood.
While the side will likely be rotated heading into their league game, seeing their five-game unbeaten run brought to an end will have an impact on the league champions. Arsenal's last trip to Anfield saw the Gunners lose 1-0 back in August, and I predict another defeat is coming for the travelling team.
Verdict
I am backing Liverpool to defeat Arsenal in their latest Premier League meeting as the Reds continue their rejuvenation.
