Juventus vs Napoli Preview & Tips
Juventus slumped to a hugely disappointing 2-0 loss at the hands of Genoa in their last league game as their inconsistent start to the season went on.
Napoli eased to a 4-1 win over Monza in their last match as they extended their unbeaten run to three games across competitions.
- Juventus were held by Rennes in a 2-2 draw in their last home game in all competitions
Head To Head
Juventus have won two of their last 10 against Napoli with the latter winning six times and two matches ending as draws.
Juventus Form
Juventus have struggled for the kind of momentum that would allow them to seriously challenge the likes of Inter Milan and Lazio at the top of Serie A this season.
Four wins, two draws and three defeats has helped the side onto 14 points. While they are only three short of Frosinone in sixth, Juventus would have wanted to have been sitting in the Champions League spots rather than looking at the European places from the outside.
At home, Juve have won twice, drawn once and lost once. Their inability to consistently win at home is a major problem. Facing Napoli this weekend, Juventus will want to secure a statement victory. However, they have struggled against their opponent in recent years, and I predict that home advantage will not culminate in the hosts taking the full three points.
Napoli Form
Napoli have also been enduring a middling season after returning the exact same record and points tally as their next hosts.
Despite struggling to match Inter at the summit, Napoli have returned a battling draw with high-flying Roma and a 4-1 win over Monza on the road heading into this one. While they are far from perfect, they are proving tough to beat at the moment having only lost one of their last six in Serie A.
On the road, Napoli have not been great, winning twice, losing twice and drawing once. The seven points they have picked up is less than half the points that Lazio have amassed as the best away team in the league (15 points). Travelling to take on Juventus is never easy, and with Napoli defending a three-game unbeaten run across competitions, I am backing them to have to settle for a draw this week.
Verdict
I am backing the points to be shared in the battle between two underachieving Serie A giants.
