Manchester United vs Roma Preview & Tips
Manchester United simply have to win this week as they look to extend Michael Carrick’s time as manager whilst ending their own two-game losing run in Europe.
Roma hammered Slovan Bratislava in their last Champions League game as they secured all three points in a 4-0 win.
- Roma are unbeaten in their last five across competitions (D1, W4)
- United are winless in their last nine across competitions (L6, D3)
Head To Head
In their previous nine meetings, United have won six times, Roma have secured two wins and one game has ended as a draw.
Manchester United Form
Manchester United have been enduring a woeful season in which they have struggled across competitions.
Since their 4-0 win over Sabah in their opening Champions League game, United have lost six times and drawn three matches. They arrive for this one on the back of a three-game losing run after defeats to Como (4-1), Bournemouth (3-0) and Chelsea (2-0).
A leaky defence, an attack that is not scoring regularly and individual errors are continually costing the English side, with their latest foray into Europe’s top competition poorly timed.
Roma are slight underdogs according to the odds, but this perhaps does them a disservice. United have been awful this season and I predict that more woes await in midweek. If they replicate performances against Como, Bournemouth and Chelsea, then they will not win this match.
Roma Form
Roma arrive for their fourth Champions League match of the season looking to secure a second win and move them onto seven points from a possible 12.
Heading into their latest game, the Italian side boast four wins and a draw, while their last game saw them hammer Udinese 5-2 on the road in Serie A. While Roma will know that their hosts will be doing everything to end their own winless run, the visiting side will also be aware of the fact that one small mistake could snowball into another defeat for the English outfit.
Roma’s trips to Old Trafford have not tended to be fruitful, but they should be confident in midweek. United have not won on their own patch since their 4-0 win over Sabah, and with three of their next four home matches across competitions ending in defeat, I am backing Roma in the draw no bet market as they secure the points.
Verdict
I am backing Roma to beat United in the draw no bet market as the home side once again slump to a disappointing result.
