Spain vs Czechia Preview & Tips
Spain have started the UEFA Nations League well, with the reigning world champions beating both England and Croatia at the start of the new campaign.
Czechia have lost their last three across competitions, with the side already on course for relegation from the top portion of the competition.
- Spain have won to nil in three of their last four against their opponents
- Czechia failed to score in their last game against England
Head To Head
I their previous seven meetings, Spain have won five times with the other two ending as draws.
Spain Form
Spain currently sit at the top of Nations League Group 3 after securing a pair of wins and moving three points clear of England and Croatia in second and third respectively.
A win over Czechia will likely see Spain move three clear of the side in third, although it could see them move five points above second and third if England and Croatia share the points. While building a bigger lead will be ideal for Spain, they will not be focussing on any of the other three sides in the group. Indeed, their sole focus will be on their own matches and winning each time.
Against Czechia, Spain can extend their unbeaten run to eight matches with this including six wins. Five of the previous seven between the pair have seen Spain keep a clean sheet, while four of their five wins have been to nil. Despite failing to secure a clean sheet in their opening two, I am backing Spain to beat Czechia to nil.
Czechia Form
Czechia have not been good enough across their Nations League campaign with a pair of defeats ensuring they are already six short of their next opponents at the summit.
Of course, few expected Czechia to seriously challenge for top spot, but they would have fancied their chances of claiming some upsets. Worrying for Czechia will be that their only remaining home game comes against Spain, while they have to travel to take on England and Croatia, two nations that they lost to at home.
Their record against Spain is very poor, and they have lost four of their last five across competitions, with one draw against South Africa coming in this time. While they will hope to utilise being the underdogs in this one, I am not backing them to take anything from the top team in their group.
Verdict
I am backing Spain to brush Czechia aside in their Nations League clash as they secure a win and a clean sheet.
