Barcelona vs Real Madrid Preview & Tips
Barcelona are looking to bounce back from their thrilling 4-2 loss to PSG in the Champions League in midweek as the Spanish leaders tasted defeat for the first time this season.
Real Madrid will sense that they have a major chance to cut the gap between themselves and the leaders to just three points in the first El Clasico of the season.
- Barcelona have seen both sides score in four of their last five in the league
- Barcelona are perfect in the league this season (P9, W9)
Head To Head
Across their last 10 meetings, Barcelona have won seven matches while Real have won three times.
Barcelona Form
Despite playing their part in a thrilling game showcasing attacking football in midweek, Barcelona will have been hugely disappointed to have lost 4-2 to PSG in the Champions League.
Their first defeat of the season will be one that the Spanish side will hope to use as fuel for the fire heading into their huge game against Real Madrid. Prior to their clash with Real, Barca have won all nine of their matches whilst scoring 39 times. Having conceded nine times this season, Barcelona are averaging one goal conceded per league game.
Real will arrive hoping to take advantage of any blip in form for Barcelona, but the home side have been so good that Real will have to be exceptional to secure the points in this one.
Barcelona boast seven wins in their last eight against Real, while five of the last six have seen both sides score. With a feisty derby on the cards, I am backing Barcelona to secure a statement win as both teams concede.
Real Madrid Form
Real Madrid surged to a big win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek as their 4-1 triumph helped to set them up perfectly for their meeting with Barcelona this weekend.
Heading into El Clasico, Real have won their last four across competitions after taking points from Villarreal, Roma, Sevilla and Leipzig. What will worry Real is that their last defeat came on the road in La Liga to Atletico Madrid.
Real currently sit six points behind Barcelona at the summit and could be nine points behind the leaders by the final whistle. While they will look to add to Barcelona's woes from midweek, I am backing against Real as they slump to a third defeat in five away games in the league.
Verdict
I am backing Barcelona to make it 10 consecutive wins in La Liga as they bounce back from their loss to PSG with a win over arch-rivals Real Madrid.
