Nottingham Forest vs Arsenal Preview & Tips
Nottingham Forest slumped to a frustrating 3-1 loss at the hands of Crystal Palace in their last league game as they failed to hit the ground running following the international break.
Arsenal edged to a 2-1 win over Leeds in their last Premier League match as they bounced back from their 3-0 loss to Brighton.
- Forest have seen under 3.5 goals scored in all three of their home matches
- Arsenal have only lost once in the league this season (W5)
Head To Head
In their last 10 meetings, Arsenal have won six matches, Forest have secured two wins and two games have ended as draws.
Nottingham Forest Form
Nottingham Forest have been disappointing at the start of the new season after winning just one of their opening six matches.
A pair of draws have come alongside three defeats, meaning Forest have picked up five points from a possible 18. The two-point gap between themselves and Bournemouth in 18th is a real worry, especially if their aversion to winning continues.
Against Arsenal, Forest have taken a point from their opponents the last two times they have played host. However, results like a 3-1 loss to a Crystal Palace side that had scored six goals in their previous five shows they are not at their best right now.
I predict that Forest will look to keep Arsenal at bay, which will likely come at the expense of their own attacking intent. Having seen less than 3.5 goals scored in their three home games this season, I foresee defeat for Forest coming in this one.
Arsenal Form
Arsenal were not at their best against Leeds, but in the mark of a true champion side, they were able to grind out a 2-1 win as they secured a morale-boosting victory.
Their home triumph, which has since been followed by a 3-0 win over Lille in the Champions League, means Arsenal have now won eight of their last nine competitive matches in a good run. Across their five away games in all competitions, the Gunners have seen less than 3.5 goals scored three times.
Generally, Arsenal have been able to lean on their defensive solidity even if things are not going their way. With a Champions League fixture in midweek to contend with, I predict that the Gunners will beat Forest in a low-scoring game.
Verdict
I am backing the Gunners to secure all three points in a clash in which less than 3.5 goals are scored.
