CoinPoker, one of the earliest blockchain-based poker platforms, has announced new staking and liquidity-pool integrations, marking a shift from pure gaming utility toward broader token economics.

The upgrade allows users to stake CHP tokens in liquidity pools on Polygon and earn proportional revenue from platform rake, effectively merging decentralised-finance (DeFi) mechanics with traditional iGaming revenue.

The development follows a surge of competition from GameFi-oriented poker and casino projects that use play-to-earn structures.

CoinPoker’s move suggests a recognition that sustainable yield and liquidity are now as important as gameplay innovation. The platform stated that “long-term value comes from shared liquidity, transparency, and fair reward alignment between the house and the player”.

From a market perspective, CoinPoker’s decision indicates that early crypto-gaming projects are maturing into DeFi hybrids. By embedding yield mechanics, they aim to retain liquidity and attract users seeking both entertainment and passive income.

It has been noted, however, that the shift also introduces securities-style scrutiny: if staking rewards derive from platform revenue, regulators may question whether the token functions as a financial instrument.

Investor sentiment appears cautiously optimistic. CHP’s trading volume rose modestly in the past 24 hours, outpacing other gaming tokens such as FUN and BC Game’s BC token.
