Bayern Munich vs Arsenal Preview & Tips

Bayern Munich were handed a shocking result in their last Champions League match as they were held by unfancied Viking in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

Arsenal eventually cruised past Lille in the last round as a flurry of second-half goals saw the Gunners secure a 3-0 win.

Bayern Munich know that they need to bounce back from their stunning 3-3 draw with Viking last week as their winning start to the Champions League was brought to an end.

In one of the most surprising results in the Champions League for years, Bayern were held in a 3-3 draw but things could have been far worse after they went 2-0 down heading into half-time. While they did battle back, they dropped two points in a match most backed them to win easily.

Their clash with the Gunners provides the opportunity to avenge a 3-1 loss to Arsenal at the same stage of last season’s competition. While they were held by Viking in their last European game, they returned to winning ways with a 6-1 demolition of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

While the Gunners arrive in good form, I am backing against them beating their German opponents.

Arsenal Form

Arsenal have put together a three-game winning run since their 3-0 loss to Brighton heading into the international break.

A 2-1 win over Leeds was followed by victories over Lille (3-0) and Nottingham Forest (1-0), with the Gunners able to ensure that their hammering at the hands of Brighton did not see their good start to the season derailed.

However, they were found out defensively by Brighton, and they now face an even better team in midweek. The Gunners would likely settle for a draw on the road against Bayern, but I predict that their tight 1-0 win over Nottingham Forest was telling of a side that is not currently at their best offensively.

Indeed, while they beat Lille 3-0 last week, their three goals came in quick succession as Lille fell apart. Prior to this, they had struggled to create and take clear-cut chances. While I back Arsenal to score in this one, something they have done in 10 of their 11 this season, I do not back them to come out on top against a very good opponent.

While I back both teams to score, I predict that Bayern will outscore their opponents in an entertaining clash.
