Manchester City vs AEK Athens Preview & Tips

Manchester City were outplayed by PSG in their last Champions League match as they slumped to a 4-2 loss at the hands of the reigning European champions at the Etihad Stadium.

AEK Athens were handed a 3-1 defeat by Shakhtar Donetsk in their last Champions League match they failed to build on a 1-0 win over LASK.

Manchester City were beaten by PSG in their last European match as the English side gave themselves too much to do after going 3-0 down heading into half-time.

Erling Haaland led the fightback with a double for City, and while they won the second-half 2-1, they were ultimately handed a first defeat of the season in all competitions. They have since bounced back with a 3-2 win over Ipswich, and they will be desperate to ensure that one win is quickly turned into two.

AEK Athens arrive as big underdogs in this one meaning City cannot afford to slip-up and suffer a second European defeat in quick succession. Despite all of the pressure being on the home side, I predict that they will be led to a big win by Haaland once again.

AEK Athens began the Champions League proper with a battling 1-0 win over LASK, with this ensuring they matched the likes of City, PSG and Barcelona by moving onto three points.

However, they were brought back down to earth with a bump as they were beaten 3-1 by Shakhtar Donetsk. While this defeat was far from terminal, it has seen much of the momentum they had garnered disappear.

As the major underdogs in this one, the travelling side will really fancy their chances of putting some real pressure on City by nabbing the first goal on the counter. However, they will not likely see much of the ball in this match and they will more than likely have their hands too full with trying to stop Haaland to seriously trouble their opponents.
