Strasbourg vs PSG Preview & Tips
Strasbourg are in need of a shot in the arm this weekend after slumping to a pair of defeats in Ligue 1.
PSG have been better of late after building a three-game winning run to help make up for their incredibly disappointing run of three without a win to start the season.
- PSG have seen both teams score in their last three across competitions
Head To head
PSG have won six of their last 10 against Strasbourg, with the latter winning once and three games ending as draws.
Strasbourg Form
Strasbourg had started the season in decent form after winning two of their opening four, drawing once and losing once.
However, a pair of 2-1 defeats to Paris FC and Nice have since seen Strasbourg's positive start hit a roadblock. Currently sat in 11th in Ligue 1, Strasbourg are a single point ahead of Auxerre in 16th. With the Ligue 1 table very congested right now, Strasbourg will know the value of getting back to winning ways quickly.
The major worry for Strasbourg will be that they have been poor against PSG. Their last 10 meetings have seen Strasbourg win just once, and while they have managed to score in their last five against their opponents, they have struggled to get the better of them.
PSG Form
PSG were surprisingly bad at the start of the new season as their opening three matches ended in draws with Rennes and Lille, while they were beaten 2-1 at home by Monaco.
A battling 1-0 win over Brest was then followed by a 2-1 triumph against Marseille and a 3-1 win over Le Mans. However, their best result of the season so far came in midweek as they beat Manchester City 4-2 in the Champions League. This win saw PSG at their best going forward, and they will hope they can replicate this sort of form at the weekend.
While PSG have continually proved themselves to be the gold standard in attacking football, they have struggled at the back of late. Five of their six matches in the league this season have resulted in both sides scoring, and while I back PSG to take the points, I do not tip them to keep a clean sheet.
Verdict
I am backing Strasbourg to fall at the hands of PSG despite breaching their defence.
