Arsenal vs Leeds Preview & Tips
Arsenal return to the Premier League looking to bounce back from a stunning 3-0 loss to Brighton that saw their four-game winning run brought to a grinding halt.
Leeds can move level on points with Arsenal if they can hand the league champions their first home defeat of the season.
- Three of Arsenal's four league wins have been to nil
- Leeds have lost and failed to keep a clean sheet in their last two against the Gunners
Head To Head
Arsenal have won nine of their last 10 against Leeds, with the other game ending as a draw.
Arsenal Form
Arsenal were hurtling towards the first international break of the season with a perfect record in the Premier League after beating Coventry, Aston Villa, Chelsea and Sunderland.
However, they were humbled by Brighton in a stunning 3-0 loss that not only ended their perfect start, but it also showcased that the Gunners will not have it all their own way this season. While they are only three points behind Manchester City at the summit, they will not want to see one loss turn into two either side of the international break.
Fortunate for Arsenal is the fact they face a side that they have beaten in their last eight. Winning four of these matches in this time to nil means I am backing Arsenal to do what they could not against Brighton, which is to keep a clean sheet and score.
Leeds Form
Leeds have been excellent at the start of the new season, avoiding defeat across their opening five matches and taking nine points from a possible 15.
Wins over Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have come alongside draws with Brentford, Brighton and Crystal Palace. Clearly, Leeds have been tough to beat and despite the season still being very young, they will be very pleased with the fact they currently sit in one of the European spots.
However, sitting in a European spot after five games means little if they cannot maintain their momentum. While they have done well to take points from sides including Brentford and Brighton, I predict that they will struggle against Arsenal.
The Gunners need a big reaction and Leeds have been poor against their opponents. Defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium is hardly embarrassing, but how they react to this defeat will be hugely important.
Verdict
I am backing Arsenal to make it three successive wins to nil against Leeds.
