Crystal Palace vs Liverpool Preview & Tips
Crystal Palace are in need of some kind of positive result this weekend, but they will not find an opponent that will look to give them an easy time as they face a Liverpool side that has lost their last two in all competitions.
- Palace have lost their last three in the league
- Liverpool are yet to lose on the road in the league (W3, D1)
Head To Head
In their last 10 meetings, Liverpool have won three times, Palace have secured four wins and three games have ended as draws.
Crystal Palace Form
Crystal Palace will be desperate to ensure that they do not head into the international break in the relegation zone, but their woeful run of form suggests that they will have little say in whether they rise out of the bottom three.
Two wins, one draw and six defeats have come alongside nine goals scored and 21 conceded. With the worst defence in the league and one of the weakest attacks, Palace have not been able to really gain any momentum.
Indeed, a 5-0 loss to Brighton was followed by a pair of 2-0 defeats to Newcastle and Tottenham, meaning Palace have lost their last three. Without a goal in this time, I am backing the home side to slump to another limp defeat.
Liverpool Form
Liverpool were beaten by Galatasaray in midweek as some questionable defending saw the Premier League side slump to a second consecutive defeat across competitions.
Coupled with their 1-0 loss to Arsenal last week, the Reds will also know how important a win heading into the international break will be. If they are to lose again, two weeks away from club football will feel like a very long time.
Fortunately for the Reds, their opponent this week is in no kind of form. Their inability to win any of their last three means Liverpool simply have to win this one, and I back them to ensure Palace fail to score for the fourth successive league game.
Verdict
I am backing Liverpool to secure a return to winning ways as they keep a clean sheet against their misfiring opponents.
