RB Leipzig vs Manchester City Preview & Tips

RB Leipzig are in need of a return to winning ways after they were brushed aside by Real Madrid in a 4-1 loss in Spain.

Manchester City hammered AEK Athens in a 5-1 win that ensured they returned to winning ways after their 4-2 defeat at the hands of PSG.

The pair have met six times before, with City winning four games, Leipzig winning once and one contest ending as a draw.

RB Leipzig have started their Champions League campaign in frustrating style after winning just one of their opening three matches.

A 1-0 home win over PSV in their second game remains their only points and clean sheet, although they would have known a comfortable loss on their trip to face Real Madrid was the likely outcome. However, their 4-1 loss to Como in their opener was a match they would have thought they had a chance in.

Now, Leipzig are looking to extend their winning run at home in the competition to two matches, but they will have to do this against a team they have lost their last three against. While Leipzig will likely breach the defence of their leaky opponent, I do not back them to outscore City.

Manchester City Form

Manchester City took advantage of facing an inferior opponent in the last round as they cruised to a dominant 5-1 win over AEK Athens.

The difference between the sides was massive, and this was shown via the scoreline. While victory was crucial, one win over AEK Athens will not completely paper over the defensive cracks that PSG highlighted when the French side surged to a 4-2 win at the Etihad Stadium in October.

Despite a fragile defence that has failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last six, I am backing City's forward-line to compensate. Erling Haaland has scored four goals for his side in the competition this season, and I back him to find the back of the net again as City surge to a third win in four.
