Barcelona are looking to bounce back from a stunning 2-1 loss to Real Madrid in their last league game as their nine-game winning run was brought to an end.

Alaves held Malaga in a 1-1 draw in their last outing as their winless run in the competition was extended to six matches.

Barcelona could not extend their lead over Real Madrid in the league at the weekend as they succumbed to a stunning 2-1 loss to their arch-rivals.

Despite suffering their first defeat, Barca still boast a two-point lead over Atletico Madrid in second. This comes on the back of a nine-game winning run that saw the reigning champions surge past each of their opponents, and they are my pick to return to this sort of form this weekend.

Against Alaves, Barcelona have been too strong, winning seven of their last 10. Alaves have only scored 14 times in 10 matches while conceding 11 goals. A return to big-scoring games is the bet this week, but this will likely come more from Barcelona, who are averaging four goals per game after netting 40 times in 10 matches.

Alaves Form

Alaves arrive for their clash with Barcelona at arguably the worst possible time, with the reigning champions looking for a big reaction this week.

Alaves are on the back of a six-game winless run that features three defeats and three draws. In this time, two of these defeats have come on the road, with Alaves struggling for momentum in the competition.

Currently propped up by three wins in their opening four matches, Alaves sit in seventh with 12 points. However, only two of their 12 points have coming on the road in a disappointing run for the side. With their record against Barcelona poor, I predict Alaves will turn out to be the perfect side for Barcelona to attempt to bounce back against.
