Freiburg are looking to make a major statement this week with a victory seeing them climb above Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Bayern Munich have moved to the top of the Bundesliga but they will know that they can take little for granted as they travel to face the side currently sitting in third.

Across their last 10 meetings, Bayern have won eight times, Freiburg have won once and one game has ended as a draw.

Freiburg have started the season in impressive style, winning four of their opening six and moving onto 13 points, one behind their next opponent at the summit.

The start of the season had seen Freiburg win their opening three, but they have since taken one of each result across their last three. A 2-2 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach was followed by a 2-1 win over struggling Schalke and a 2-1 loss to Bayer Leverkusen. This defeat saw Freiburg miss the chance to move clear at the summit and stay two above Bayern.

Now, all focus returns to ensuring Freiburg bounce back with a win, but this will be far easier said than done. Freiburg have lost their last four against Bayern, and while they have found the back of the net in their last three against their opponent, I do not back them to secure a stunning win.

Despite avoiding defeat across the start of the new season, Bayern Munich have been enduring a less-than-perfect start to their campaign.

Likely the victims of their own high standards, four wins and two draws in their opening six matches is an underwhelming start for the reigning champions, and they will want to ensure that their big 6-1 win over RB Leipzig is immediately followed by a win over high-flying Freiburg.

Clean sheets have proved tough to come by of late with Bayern seeing both teams score in their last four across competitions. Harry Kane continues to score goals for the champions, and I back him to hit the back of the net again in a win for his side.
