AC Milan vs Inter Milan Preview & Tips

AC Milan are looking to bounce back from their shock 4-2 home loss to Bologna in their last league outing.

Inter Milan continue to top the Serie A standings after surging to eight wins in their opening nine matches.

Across their last 10 meetings, AC Milan have won five times, Inter have secured two victories and three games have ended as draws.

AC Milan had started the season in fine form after winning five of their opening eight and drawing with Juventus, Lazio and Sassuolo.

As big favourites against Bologna, AC Milan's 4-2 loss was a major surprise as they were beaten by their inconsistent opponents. This loss has seen AC Milan slip seven points short of Inter at the summit, and it means they cannot really afford to allow this one to end in defeat.

Positive for the home side is the fact they have won five of their last eight against their rivals whilst losing the other three. Inter's current record means the travelling side arrive as the favourites, but this will do little to put off a Milan side that will be desperate to secure the win in this one.

Inter Milan arrive sitting at the top of the Serie A standings after nine matches, but they will know that they can take little for granted with Lazio matching them all the way.

Their 2-0 win over Venezia last time out ensured that their winning run was extended to four matches after wins over Parma (3-0), Bologna (3-1) and Fiorentina (2-1). While Inter are yet to lose this season and have only dropped two points in nine matches, they have not been able to shake Lazio, who have also been excellent.

In this one, I predict that the travelling side will finally buckle under the pressure of their own excellent run and Lazio's brilliant chase. I am backing Inter's wait for a first win over their rivals since April 2024 to go on as they lose in the league for the first time.
